When a patient comes into the hospital, many times the physicians do not immediately know what the underlying issue is for the symptoms. A 43-year old male was admitted to critical care with sepsis and presumed pneumonia. He complained of three days of nausea and the inability to pass bowels.
Drs. Amanda M. Turbeville and William S. Richardson take The Ochsner Journal readers through their manuscript Guess the Case and describe all of the patient’s symptoms and tests. Before revealing the diagnosis and treatment, the authors ask the readers for their input.
