A Contemporary Update Has Been Published Online Ahead of Print

The newest addition to our early online collection, “Graduate Medical Education as a Lever for Collaborative Change: One Institution’s Experience with a Campuswide Patient Safety Initiative” tackles the important issues of patient safety and quality improvement.
After closure of a large public hospital in Baton Rouge, LA, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center faced three significant challenges: accommodating more patients, training more residents, and incorporating residents into patient safety and quality improvement initiatives as required by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
Vath and colleagues report results of their award-winning Alliance of Independent Academic Medical Centers’ National Initiative IV project.
Their scholarly focus on quality improvement led to an increase in evidence-based practice improvements and in faculty and resident publications at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.
